Bird Watching in the Aude.

The Aude is extremely rich in many different aspects of the natural world.    Because of the diverse variety of habitats, there are nearly 200 different species of birds are found nesting in the department.  From the coastal wetlands, to the Mediterranean hill country, passing by the broad leaf woodlands to the mountains of the Pyrenees, and enhanced by the general practice of traditional extensive agriculture, a tremendous wealth of variety can be seen in short day trips away from la Maison de Lali.   Jonathan is a keen birdwatcher, a member of the steering committee of the L.P.O. and is delighted to share his local knowledge, and give guidance as to where to go and what to look for, all on day trips.

On this page are a tiny selection of photographs of some of our notable birds taken by local ornithologists.
